Unknown Church

A long distance relationship could be likened to your relationship  with your home church. We all remember  that one church that we grew up in,  we know the pastors children by name,  we were the altar servants,  the choir members, the  instrumentalists. We know the favourite church hymn,  the boys' & girls' brigade song, church was life😀.

...and then you moved.
Maybe because  your dad got a different job or built another house or you entered a higher institution. All the same, it is far from your home church. In your subconscious,  you think that you can work it out,  you love this church,  your whole life is this church, you've known so many people  in this church, some of them were there on your naming ceremony  day.
When people ask" How are you going to do it? ", or say " Its painful  to say goodbye", you tell them " Dont worry,  we would work something  out".
Moving day
You go to see your church one last time,  with tears in your eyes you hug as many people  as you can. "Don't  worry,  we would still come here to worship", this is all your parents  keep telling you  while you seat at the back seat of the toyota land cruiser heading to an unknown  land... an unknown church.
First Month
It seems normal,  you make a conscious  effort to go to your home church, see your friends, sing in the choir,  life seems normal,  nothing has changed,  you are still a member.
Sixth month
You no longer go to home church so frequently. Twice a month at most. Your friends  call all the time, they miss you. " When are you coming  again,  you came last two weeks", John's message pops up on your phone. " I would come next week", you reply quickly, but your face betrays your hands.

First year
No calls come in from home church  members anymore. Not even John,  you can't remember  the last time you went to a church steadily. Always moving from one church to another trying to find a home church in them. You can't go back to home church either,  it's been too long and it is too far, too stressful no time for that stress since you are in university  now.
Second year
You finally found one church, not far at all from your school. Its beautiful, nice people there ,you like the choir too,  you can barely  remember  how to sing anymore but you try to get used to their programme. Then you look at your phone,  a message from John,  wow! You are surprised since it has been a year.
" How are you, just checking up on you,  home peeps said I should greet you.Take care".
After reading,  you don't  feel sad anymore. " Thanks John, say hi for me also",  you press the send button and you get ready to join a new church.
